Hong Kong : 8 Jan., 2010 – A group of young protesters, known as the Post 80s Anti-Express Railway Group (八十後反高鐵青年) continue protest against the demolition of homes in Tsoi Yuen Tsuen (菜園村) to make way for the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express rail link project outside the Legislative Council.

They started the 4 day campaign (五區苦行) across five Hong Kong districts from Sheung Shui to to Legislative Council in Central to against approve HK$66.9 billion funding for the Hong Kong section of the express rail link project. Some protesters knelt every 26 steps to protest against the construction of the 26-kilometre Hong Kong section of the rail link.

Hong Kong Tennis Classic 2010

The stars of the tennis world are lined up for the Hong Kong Tennis Classic 2010. The city’s showpiece event will feature four of the World’s Top Ten, plus five Grand Slam Champions, and it takes on an exciting new twist with the inclusion of four of the legends of men’s tennis.

Top names include world number four, Caroline Wozniacki, and sixth ranked, Victoria Azarenka who will both represent Team Europe. Opposing divas Maria Sharapova and Venus Williams will represent Team Russia and Team Americas respectively. They will be supported by world number nine, Russian Vera Zvonareva and Argentina’s top-ranked player, Gisela Dulko. Sports icon and Chinese player, Zheng Jie, and Japan’s number one, Ayumi Morita, headline a determined Team Asia Pacific.

Four legends of the men’s game line up alongside their illustrious female compatriots. Team Americas showcases former superstar Michael Chang, who makes a welcome return to Hong Kong for Team Americas. Thai heartthrob Paradorn Srichaphan, who recently returned to the world circuit, adds power and spice to Team Asia Pacific. Former Wimbledon Champion, Sweden’s Stefan Edberg brings his serve and volley-style and quiet charisma to an accomplished Team Europe. And Team Russia features the former World No. 1, Yevgeny Kafelnikov who retired in 2003 and recently returned to the Champions Tour.

The new team format will feature women’s and men’s singles and mixed doubles matches over four days of action packed tennis at Victoria Park.

Hong Kong – 1 Jan, 2010 – Hong Kong’s New Year Countdown Celebrations to be held once again on the New Year’s Eve (31 December 2009). The countdown event, presented by International Finance Centre (ifc) and supported by Henderson Land Development Company Limited and Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited, will increase the number of pyrotechnic firing points by 30%, with the number of charges increasing from 6,000 to 9,000. For the first time, pyrotechnics will be arranged on the northern facade of Two ifc right in front of Victoria Harbour to create 10 different patterns and three-dimensional visual effects. Another new attempt is placing 20 sets of powerful searchlights adjacent to both sides of Two ifc to enhance the lighting effect.

Hong Kong : 30 Dec., 2009 – Workers work hard to prepare the Apple New Year Count Down (時代廣場蘋果倒數) event held on New Years Eve in Hong Kong.  Mirroring its namesake in New York City, the plaza in front of the building is one of two main gathering points, along with the harbour, for Western New Year celebrations in Hong Kong. In the hours leading up to 00:00, the area is packed with revellers waiting for the midnight countdown.

Also, the package of the Utimate version is different from that of the Windows 7 retail box set.

Moreover, the first participant receive a free autographed copy of the “Windows 7 Ultimate Edition” by Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft.
