Hong Kong: 4 June 2012 – More than 180,000 people fill up six football fields at Victoria Park attend the candlelight vigil to remember June fourth massacre in Beijing 23 years ago. However, Hong Kong Police estimated only have 85,000.
Fang Zheng, a survivor of the Chinese regime’s violent crackdown on student protesters in 1989, attends the memorial in person for the first time. A tank rolled over Fang’s legs.
4 June,1989 People’s Liberation Army had killed civilians at Tiananmen square with troops and tanks, killing thousands to quell a “counterrevolutionary rebellion” or later called it the “1989 political storm” .
The candlelight vigil will commemorate those who were killed in the June 4 Massacre and express our determination to succeed in realizing their goals.
