Earliest Amber Rainstorm Alert (hkdigit-20090305-200738)

Hong Kong: 6 March, 2009 -The Hong Kong Observatory issued amber rainstorm signals twice after a thunderstorm brewed across the border, moved down to Hong Kong and abruptly transformed the weather from soggy and cloudy into rainy and windy.

The signals lasted from 14:00 to 15:00 and from 16.10 to 17.10pm and brought about 30mm of rain in northwest New Territories, where gusts reached 90km/h.
